Thatch brushing :

Thatched roof needs consistent maintenance to prolong the life of the roof. As well as general degredation of the thatch which happens over time, common problems in thatched roofs which require maintenance include damage caused by monkeys, birds and overhanging trees as well as leaks and rotting often caused because the roof was improperly thatched and built in the first place.

ll thatch has a lifespan – it’s a fact. No matter how well it is maintained, no matter how well it is thatched and to what thickness it is thatched at, all thatch roofs will eventually get to the point of no return and will need to be brushed or rethatched.

thatch lapas

Cape Reed used as the inner layer of all our specific build thatch roofs.
Thatch thickness is standard 150 -175mm on all roofs

In thatching, the interior finish forms an integral part of the overall roof design. Our design team will introduce you to the different internal

structure options, which includes conventional and traditional designs as well as a variety of timber treatments.

With a conventional structure, the rafter poles are set closer together which gives the interior a cozier, more distinctly cottage feel.

The clear timber treatment is ideal for those who find the normal dark poles a little too oppressive, particularly in smaller rooms. Protected by our own unique SABS approved pressure treatment these light colored poles impart a clean natural wood look.
